You forgot about that horrible box art didn't you? My brother and I played countless hours playing this game. It was one of our first games on the Playstation. Add in the cutscenes, movie type scares like the dogs jumping through windows, a decent storyline, and a tough boss battle. That's a great game. I think part of my love for RE is definitely due to nostalgia. Don't get me wrong, it has some lows and I remember those too, (I'm looking at you Barry's Voice Actor!) but overall it ushered in a new era of gaming. Not just for graphics, but the survival horror genre in general. 300 zombies and only 15 bullets? Better figure out when to fight and when to run.
It's branched out too and done more action type games and I'm definitely looking forward to Operation Raccoon City which comes out later this year. The productization doesn't end there either, sure you can even buy T-Virus energy drinks, collectible card games (which I will probably buy at Gencon), and soon they are even doing a home security system. Totally getting that.
Anyway, Resident Evil is celebrating 15 years. Here's hoping to 15 more!
Happy Birthday Resident Evil!
